The rheumatology ultrasound service in NHS Lanarkshire is provided by Dr Anna Ciechomska and Dr Karen Donaldson. The scope of ultrasound procedures includes:
- diagnostic of inflammatory arthropathies and enthesitis
- diagnostic of entrapment neuropathies
- ultrasound guided procedures (injections, aspirations, needling, barbotage)
- diagnostic of Giant Cell Arteritis (as part of Fast Track Pathway)
Ultrasound clinic takes place on Tuesdays morning at UHW.
Ultrasound is also used in the rheumatology clinics as point-of-care ultrasound by Dr James Dale and Dr Anna Ciechomska in UHW and Stonehouse Hospital, and by Dr Karen Donaldson and Dr Robin Munro in University Hospital Monklands.

Dr Ciechomska is a Consultant Rheumatologist in University Hospital Wishaw. She is certified with EFSUMB3 expert in musculoskeletal ultrasound including MSK injuries, nerve entrapments and ultrasound guided procedures.
